Decimeter converter explained
This converter flips between decimeters and nearby length units—centimeters, meters, millimeters, inches, and feet—so you can size drawings or cut lists without hand calculations.
How the conversion works
A decimeter is one-tenth of a meter. Convert through meters to reach any other unit:

| Foot | ft | 1 ft = 0.3048 m = 3.048 dm |
Worked examples
-
Furniture layout Given 85 dm:
Result: 8.5 m or 850 cm.
-
Converting a metric print to imperial Given 3.5 m:
Result: 35 dm and 137.80 in.
Tips and pitfalls
- Decimeters appear often in European architectural drawings; translate them before ordering materials in feet or inches.
- Keep two decimals when converting to inches to stay within 1/32 in precision (0.03125 in ≈ 0.79375 mm).
- For woodworking, round to the nearest millimeter to match common tape measures.
